Topic: Salt Stack
Abstract: Are you still managing your Linux servers manually, one by one?

infrastructure and they having you feel down in the dumps?
If you answered "yes" to any of those questions come to Michael's
SaltStack presentation on Nov 14th. He will be demonstrating SaltStack
basics using Vagrant and then there will be a demonstration of using
SaltStack to orchestrate a chorus of servers around the world!

Topic: etckeeper - putting /etc/ into revision control
Abstract: Ever debug a problem for hours just to discover it was a new
typo in a configuration file? Ever have someone (maybe you) bork a conf
file and not realize it for days? Put /etc/ into revision control and
track what changes and when.
etckeeper uses the revision control system of your choice to track changes
in /etc/. It ties into package management systems for automagic checkins
after updates. It also tracks metadata such as permissions and ownership
that revision control systems usually do not track.
Bio: der.hans is the founder of the Free Software Stammtisch, Chairman for
PLUG and repeat speaker for SCaLE. He's a DBA at Limelight Networks and
moonlights as an adjunct instructor at Mesa Community College.
In his free time he likes to go camping, learn about sustainable culture
and annually not set himself on fire. He is slowly learning gardening and
loves to brag about his grandma's cheesecakes and Spätzle.
