Desert Breeze Substation
251 North Desert Breeze Blvd
Chandler, AZ 85226

The Desert Breeze Substation is on Chandler Blvd and Desert Breeze Blvd, which is half way between McClintock and Rural.  It is very close to both the south 202 and 101 freeways.  Public transportation is available into the late hours.

To get to the room that we meet, just enter the door that faces Desert Breeze and make your first left, you can't miss it, as it's the only place to go.

Topic: TBA

If you are interested in helping drive PLUG, please join the mailing list. It would be helpful if you can also join the meetings, but that is not required.

PLUG exists only because volunteers work to get things done.

As before, the PLUG planning committee is open to anyone who wants to help PLUG. Be prepared to volunteer as it is a working committee.

PLUG-planning mailing list:

PLUG planning committee meetings will be the hour before the PLUG east side meetings at 18:00 in the same room. PLUG east side meetings are the second Thursday of the month.

The meetings are for scrum-style task updates, discussions should take place on the mailing list. It is best if task updates are submitted to the list before the meeting regardless of whether or not you can attend. This meeting time can also be used for PLUG steering committee meetings if necessary.

Additionally, task updates are scheduled for the fourth Thursday of the month. Those will take place on the PLUG-planning mailing list.

PLUG will be meeting at 7pm it's NEW home (see the meeting page for PLUG east).

I would like to publicly thank Shawn Badger for arranging for this new location.

To get to the room that we meet, just enter the door that faces Desert Breeze and make your first left, you can't miss it, as it's the only place to go.

The new facility appears to be very nice, and should make for a good new home.

The main door into the building automatically locks at 5pm, but will be propped open until the meeting starts, after that there will be a white door bell close to the door that says "PLUG" on it. Please press the door bell and someone will come and let you into the building. I know this isn't the most convenient thing in the world, but you wont be standing out front very long.

This month's presentation will be Walter Mack on GNU Plot.

Walter Mack is a consultant in the Phoenix metro area, specializing in C++/C software development, primarily on the Linux platform.

Abstract

Gnuplot is a handy program to quickly get plots of data series. It can use text files as input, and is therefore a convenient backend to graph data obtained by shell scripts, etc.
The presentation will give an introduction to gnuplot (showing the use of some often-used commands), a few examples of how to use gnuplot with scripting to visualize data.
It will also compare gnuplot to other plotting solutions, such as spreadsheet programs.

We have a new home, but it's not available till next month, so we will meet for one time only at the usual time of 7pm at Iguana Macks.

- We may have a recruiter showing up (we are waiting to hear back).
- Brian MAY have another graphics presentation but probably not at he is busy with a client project.
- der Hans will do a presentation on command line usage which will cover a few beginner topics and work its way into some features some advanced users may not be up to snuff on.  This should be interesting.

Iguana Macks is the same place we need for the Linux Stammtisch.

Iguana Mack is located in Chandler, on Alma School between Warner and Ray at:

1371 N Alma School Rd
Chandler, AZ, 85224

See you there.

We lost our room at MCC and have to move. They are turning our old room into offices.

For this month only we will be meeting in a different room at MCC. After this month we will pick a new location, so stay tuned to details on that.

Map to Room BP1S at MCCNext week we will meet at MCC in room BP1S (see the attached map).  Hans will be doing a preview of his SCaLE talk on glusterfs.

If you have any ideas about where we can meet in the future please send them to me.  We are giving preference to Tempe locations or very near Tempe as we would like to keep it fairly central to the valley, but we can't get too picky since we need it to be donated space.  Also consider availability of public transportation, the amount of parking, how late we can stay etc, etc  We get 25 to 30 people on a regular basis and we surge to 40 or 50 quite often so we'll need a room that can hold that.

This month's PLUG meeting will be our annual Christmas party.

Come on by for a good time and good conversation.

The party is a pot luck, so feel free to bring whatever you would like to share with the group.

There will be no formal presentations this month.
