Your font path is not setup to use the font server (xfs). http://www.xfree.org/man/XF86Conf.html says, in regards to the XF86Config file: 'FontPath "path" sets the search path for fonts. This path is a comma separated list of directories which the X server searches for font databases. Multiple FontPath entries may be specified, and they will be concatenated to build up the fontpath used by the server.' 'X11R6 allows the X server to request fonts from a font server. A font server is specified by placing a "/:" entry into the fontpath. For example, the fontpath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,tcp/zok:7100" tells the X server to first try to locate the font in the local directory /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc. If that fails, then request the font from the font server running on machine zok listening for connections on TCP port number 7100.' --BVG Kelly wrote: > > Donn Shumway wrote: > > > > I'm not very familiar with Suse but can you verify if xfs (x font server) > > is running? > > ps -ef |grep xfs > > > > What was the result of 'xset -q'? > > > > Look in your XF86config file in your user's home directory for the fonts > > section and paste it to a reply. > > > > Regards, > > Donn Shumway > > > yes, to the first command, it's running. > > Here is the result of the second command..btw, > I'm running Suse 6.2 > > Font Path: > > /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/URW,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/PEX,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/latin2 > Bug Mode: compatibility mode is disabled > DPMS (Energy Star): > Standby: 1200 Suspend: 1800 Off: 2400 > DPMS is Disabled > Font cache: > hi-mark (KB): 1024 low-mark (KB): 768 balance (%): 70 > > tia > > Kelly > > _______________________________________________ > Plug-discuss mailing list - Plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us > http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
