This might help you out a little... http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/smb.conf.5.html#createmask ...is the box participating in a nt domain? did you get it added to the domain properly? if the authors are in a nt user group, does that group have any 'odd' characaters in the name? -----Original Message----- From: dwacks@saleslogix.com [mailto:dwacks@saleslogix.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2000 6:22 AM To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us Subject: Safe Mode Errors We use RedHat 6.2, MySQL, PHP 3.x and have 5 developers. Each logs in under their own name. They are part of the same group (website). All of the websites are stored under the /www/sitename directory. All pages are owned by Webdude and group .website If a developer modifies an existing page, there is not a problem. However, if they create a new page it sets the ownership to them and then (seemingly randomly) when trying to access the page we get a safe mode violation. Note: most access the pages via Homesite connected thru a SMB connection. e.g. the linux box has an SMB point called www, the developers connect (via windows 2000/NT) and map the drive. All changes are using Homesite. To fix the problem, we have to set the owner, group, and permissions. Then it is fine. Any ideas?
