There's an option from the main install menu to configure the network. If thet fails check that the module for your ethernet card has been loaded. - ifconfig -a If you don't see eth0 there, then you need to load the appropriate module. cat /proc/pci Determine what you ethernet card is from that. If you have to, resort to opening the box and looking at the card :). In the main install menu go into the kernel configuration submenu. There's a net menu in there. You have to configure the network first. Debian's been able to install everything but the kernel and kernel modules off the network for a couple of years.
