On our Solaris box (sparc 5.7), cc is located in /opt/SUNWspro/bin If you check, you will probably see that cc (/usr/ucb/cc) is a shell script. Running cc will then result in: /usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed which means that a C compiler has not been installed on this box. I just download the newest Samba 2.2.2 for Solaris and Linux. I tried to execute configure file on Solaris. I got the following message. loading cache ./config.cache checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH I did "which cc" and add the /usr/ucb/cc into the path. I still got the same message. My stupid questions are this. 1. Where is the gcc or cc located? 2. Do I have to chmod x all files under source to be executable? I did have to chmod x configure file. 3. If I did anything wrong, how do I uninstall samba? I can not find uninstallation info. Do I just delete the /usr/local/samba folder? Thanks! Any help will be great. TC. ===== Terence Chang peanutlen@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo!
