I have a setup similar to what your describing - a small LAN connected to the Internet via an ISDN Router. The model I use is a Netgear RT338. It has built in NAT, firewall, auto redial if the line drops, DHCP, port forwarding, etc. If you get a static IP, using a router is a great way to keep a persistant connection. This allows you to forgo setting up PPP. All the dial up functions are handled by the router and if the connection drops, it keeps redialing until the connection is re-established (with ISDN, dialing and connecting only takes about 1-2 seconds). This router acts very much like a DSL router in that you plug one port into your ISDN jack and the other port is a 10/100 ethernet connection that you can connect to your hub/switch on your LAN. Hope this helps, Peter --- Mike wrote: > I'm an idiot: Does the ISDN router function much like cable/dsl > router/modems? > > > On Thu, Jan 31, 2002 at 09:21:20AM -0700, Michael F.
