While I dont have experience with SQLBase, I've used perl for
several different databases.

You need to go to www.cpan.org  and get the DBI perl module
and one of the DBD- packages for that database.
Worst case, if there isnt a module specifically for SQLBase, you
can probably use ODBC to connect to that database.
