Tom's hardware has shown that they are faster than their windows counterparts. Of course Loki is down the toilet but their games still run well. Many games, like Quake 3 and the upcoming Neverwinter Nights, have a native linux code base and run very quick. Of course game performance is largely influenced by your video card and available RAM. TransGaming has DirectX implemented on Linux but games running under their DirectX implementation lose quite a bit a frame rate relative to their performance under windows. It is getting better every day however. I have played Sim City 3K and Quake 3 on my Linux box and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
