Actually I should say, the LG cd-rw kinda works it took some 
experimentation with "cdrecord" to do the the things I
wanted it to do. It is cheap hardware compared to the quality burners.
If want a recommendation for a more or less trouble free burner the 
Yamaha Lightspeed's work trouble free under Linux.

It's tough for me to part with my money ;-)
So I end up paying the price in other ways (time and fustration!)
The LG does work, just better if you can afford it to get a quality burner.
