If install fails at mouse selection, can I restart at that point?

While installing Mandrake 9 I was asked to select a mouse. When I did, it
didn't like the choice I made and 2 things happened. First, the cursor
jumped around as I moved the mouse, then the box froze.
Do I need to reinstall or is there a way to start where I left off?
Remember, I hadn't yet had the chance to make a boot floppy; I will need to
use the installation CD.
