Same channel (frequency) was the problem. We both have two story
homes w/AP on the second floor...good coverage :-). Looks like
some conflicting overlap. For today, I just changed the frequency
(and a few more tweaks in 'wicontrol')and I'm screaming along again. 
Tonight, I may just tune into the old frequency to collect more data
to confirm the actual problem(s).

Hmmm, maybe a bargaining chip for the barking dog?
