Ruck:
If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, then unplug your win* boxes
(temporarily) and get your Linux box connected to COX. Since this box
will be your firewall, you should get comfortable with it being the only
box connected to your ISP. Once you accomplish that, then you can worry
about getting iptables fired up properly to allow any/all your other
PC's (i.e winXP) access to the Internet.

Baby steps: then you can get the printer hooked up and Samba functioning
for the remaining services you described.
