I have to laugh though. One of my clients got help setting up a system with redhat from one of their electical engineer experts who knows all about unix/linux. He partitioned the 120GB HD with 85GB of it going to /usr - 25GB to /home and the root partition "/" was 100% full and they couldn't get x launched. ;-) runaway logging which fills /var can have some nasty consequences too.
