ok I made a boo-boo when I was reading about irix. A couple papers said irix is open source so I got excited and whizzed over to sgi.com to check out dnloading and installing irix, that is when I learned that irix itself is proprietary but there is a list of modules that can be dnloaded and installed and most of those are open source. I apologize for the misunderstanding. Oh and thanks for replying, I knew that when writing this e-mail that it has a very open ended response but I didn't know how else to word the message. Or perhaps it is just that not many here have experience with irix since it is a proprietary os. Craig S. > . Did they make it open source now? I should check it out.
