Just an FYI - I replaced a Novell NetWare server with a RH9+Samba server for
a client.  Everything went well except setting up printing to several
JetDirect printers.  I defined the printers using printconf, CUPS printed to
them just fine, but when printing through Samba to the CUPS queues, the
delays were intolerable (1-2 minutes for a one-page MS Word doc).

The solution was to tell Samba to use lprNG printing and then tell CUPS to
to LPD emulation.  Don't ask me why, but that sped printing up tremendously.
