Gaim is currently at .68 and you will find things to be so much better there. Go to http://gaim.sf.net and read the changelog (it's linked to on the first page) to see all the reasons you NEED to upgrade. This is why I no longer run an RPM (or deb, but I can't really speak there) distro. The packages are always out of date. Gentoo, on the other hand, is always running the most current, yet stable, versions of just about everything.
