LTSP... Okay now before I tear my network apart I thought I'd ask for suggestions. Here is my situation I have about 5 desktop computers because I got tired of doing admin work on all 5 of them currently everyone exports a window from my computer (which has become the default app server). However this presents a problem. 1) Everyone is forced to use the screen resolution I have set. 2) sound is only available from my computer. 3) can only use the DVD / CD-Rom drive on my computer. So what I'm thinking is I need to go with LTSP. Only the iso I see online all have the terminal server also being the firewall / router and I have a 486 set up for that which is doing the firewall / router thing fine but there is no way it could run our apps. So the next thought is run NFS so that everyone gets the apps from the same location. set up usernames on ldap so that I have that stored in one central location but that everyone is running their own machine mostly (many of these boxes have little hard drive space in them) but that their home dir and the aps would all be comming from what is currently the app server. So before I put any of this into practice anyone have any suggestions? -- Carl Parrish (cparrish@carlparrish.com) http://www.carlparrish.com --- Registered Linux User #295761 http://counter.li.org
