I am in the CIS program. I do not think there would be a problem for me to
be the Advisor. I'll check with my Dean this weekend.

Yes, however, they've run into some trouble trying to find a Faculty
Advisor, which is required for a DeVry club.  I've been asking around
campus, since I most of the Linux-using faculty are in the NetCom
program rather than the CIS program which I'm in.
