We all know that Gnome has had some weak moments in their ascension to Gnome 2.x as has KDE from 3.0 to 3.1 and 3.2 and even then, the distribution that you use will have a very large impact on your success with each. For example, Red Hat has modified both managers to their blue curve theme and adjust the default applications, menu structure etc. undoubtedly to the dismay of both Gnome & KDE managers. My guess is that other distributions of Linux has done the same. There aren't any absolutes - though I've been using Gnome since I went RH 9, I previously used KDE and thought many parts of it to be better. Thus it would appear that your commentary probably better reflects the distribution and versions - with whatever errata updates applied and probably not the larger picture. Craig
