Hello all:

There's an event coming up in January that I thought some of you might be 
interested in.   At the January meeting of the IEEE Computer Society, the 
speaker will be Dr. Alex Vrenios, on the topic of Linux Cluster Architecture 
(he's written a book by that title.)  His plan is called CHAOS, for Cheap 
Array of Outmoded Systems.  Alex's talk will provide you with enough info to 
build your own cluster computer, experiment, and take measurements.   He'll 
also talk about how this architecture is the basis of many commercial 
super-computer arrays.  I'll definitely be attending, as I already have a 
dozen computers of wildly varying power (most of them running Linux) and I 
hope to put some of this knowledge to use myself. The date for this event is 
Wednesday, January 14, 2004.  The location is DeVry University at 2149 W. 
Dunlap in Phoenix.  The meeting starts at 6 PM for networking and a light 
meal (usually one of those long sandwiches) and the presentation will be at 7 
PM.  You don't have to be an IEEE member to attend.  Hope to see some of you 
there!
