moin, moin, been having intermittent problems with my cable connection :(. Actually, not with the connection, rather with getting off the cox network to the outside world. Cox decided to send out a tech even though the problem appears to be at their edge routers and should be verifiable from their network. The tech showed up an hour after the service window ( I did get called after the service window was over to let me know the tech would be late due to an emergency ). While waiting Qwest called claiming they can finally get DSL to me. Hmm, we'll see. Anyway, the tech did notice that the orginal setup had a splitter meant for inside use in my box outside and that the cabling was badly crimped. He fixed that. He also didn't blink when we used my GNU/Linux laptop to check stuff and mentioned he keeps seeing more and more of it :). I do have business services, but I think he's actually from the residential stuff because he mentioned that his team can't see the accounts for business accounts. Another tech showed up. They seemed to be pretty impressed with GNU/Linux and the fact that the 200 MHz boxen I have out front are useful. I gave them Knoppix CDs and suggested they show up for a PLUG meeting :). ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # Practice socially consious hedonism.
