ok, it looks like one of my smaller ups's crashed during a power surge. reset 
both the firewall box (I caught that one) and the ircd at the same time. 
however, I didn't get the server box till just now..

for some reason the ircd deamon isn't willing to run. I am trying to figure it 
out now....
