I'm sure there are.  For me to do it I would need to get access to a VCR that 
isn't fully connected into an entertainment center (roomates wouldn't appreciate 
me ripping it apart to get the VCR).

Heh, could always do the old Fry's rental trick, buy a cheap vcr, use it and 
return it the same day :)
