How good are those USB to parallel printer cables?
Friend has a parallel printer and new XP machine. The
HP xxx printer didn't work on usb with 98se either.
Just wondering if spending around $15 is a waste or a
good possiblility. The 'factory' told her that her
printer wasn't compatible.

Also, would Knoppix possibly prove the printer works
at all.

This is a amd64 with 32 bit xp pro installed.

Don't tell me to tell her to run linux...she only got
the machine because it is the only way to hold on to
her job as they 'bother' her too much at work to get
all done and they tend to be toward the bleeding edge
software and hardware wise. Some day, maybe her boss
will decide when the rest of the world has changed to
linux to run it.
