Meaning it has a fairly high learning curve. That withstanding perl code from different programmers may look vastly different. Decreasing the chance for others to rapidly extend existing works. This is not a knock on perl. They are in fact strengths of perl. The problem is for these type of applications they are liabilities rather than assets. -Derek
