When you run route with the default command line options, it attempts to do a reverse DNS lookup of the IP addresses for the gateway hosts. If you are on a private network without a DHCP server to provide that information, it has to wait until the DNS query timesout. Run 'route -n' to disable the DNS queries and it will run much faster. This works for many of the network tools (netstat, traceroute, etc). ~Deepak -- Deepak Saxena - dsaxena at plexity dot net - http://www.plexity.net/ --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
