I feel that with --[clip]-- This was discussed as having a "PLUG preferred" install or distribution and a "PLUG preferred" desktop just before the last InstallFest in October. Rather than re-hash it all again, go to the list archive and read around in this thread: http://lists.plug.phoenix.az.us/lurker/thread/20030911.082847.c8b098d7.html#20030911.082847.c8b098d7 The bottom line is that I don't think you will get the entire group to agree on a single "preferred" install. If we had a standing committee dedicated to helping do installs and tech support, I think I could live with the members of that committee deciding to support only a certain install. They would be the ones always doing the work so they can choose what they want to work with. It would be better, I think to have a document comparing the general strengths and target focus of each distribution and desktop. Let the user decide from that. A good start for such a document might be this recent one: http://www.thejemreport.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=123 If, after considering the previous discussion on the topic, you feel strongly enough or have some new ideas, by all means, share them.
