I'm not a SUSE pilot, but here are a couple common things to check. Are your filesystems being mounted? Are they setup in /etc/fstab? Can you boot to single-user mode and mount / manually? Do you have any way to grab the output from `dmesg` and send it to the list for review? ...Kevin Thanks for the reply, I can get to the command line if I boot in failsafe but cant print DMESG. When I shutdown, it says "tmpfs unmounted " and then "/dev/hda2 umounted' which leads this rank amateur to beleive that the filesystems are the problem. LS in ETC shows both FSTAB and MTAB but I am not sure if they are really there. When I try to open KDE, it displays messages about X server problems and kdeinit.rc not found and exits.
