Both my Canon F-30 and my HP LaserJet 1012 have that kind of USB port and the cables I bought have a connector for it on one end and a rectangular connector on the other to plug into the USB port on the PC. I assume the small square style is the std. device connector--except for my 128MB USB "lipstick" drive. It fits the rectangular connector. A USB connection is MUCH faster than a parallel one, which makes a big difference if you're scanning a large photo at high resolution-- 2 minutes vs 10 minutes for an 8x10 @ 1200dpi. (USB 1) But all of this is moot unless you can find a Linux driver for the beast or resign yourself to using it only with the Redmond product. BTW, I tried sending plain ASCII characters to my F-30. It sat there like a lump & totally ignored me. -mj- Michael Havens wrote: > > You know, after reading up on this printer it appears that it has a USB cable. > I don't see a USB connector on the back, only a parallel port.
