Another example of why I use Free Software. Some users of MS Money 2004 enabled a recommended feature that encrypts your local financial data with your MS Passport authentication login. Appearently MS made a change to the authentication server last weekend and many people cannot get to the financial data on their local hard drive. They are locked out of processing bills or doing any other work since Monday. Many proprietary programs can hinder (closed formats) or even block (locked keys) your control over your own data.
