Another idea is to use WEBDAV. It is included with Apache HTTPD 2. It can
be secured using HTTP authentication mechanisms and SSL (HTTPS).

Windows and Mac OS X clients provide DAV clients. DAV clients are
available for Unix, Linux, BSD, etc.

I don't use Windows, but it should be easy. Right click on desktop to
create a folder. Right click on folder to setup the mapping by putting in
the HTTPS URL to the webdav folder. The drag and drop or use it like any
local (or like SMB) folder.

You could also use Microsoft Windows File Explorer to upload and download
files via DAV.
