ok glad you asked.

i cannot vouch for the mepis livecd. but i use
slackware and wanted the exact same thing.

the Netgear MA401 802.11b card works 
the cisco aironet 350 works

by 'works' i mean you plug it in and boot up the
computer and you're on wifi

at least that is my experience with these two cards
(pcmcia) with slackware.

the cisco aironet card is expensive but available for
purchase

the Netgear MA401 card is old and I had to order if
off of Amazon.com marketplace from a seller on that
site

NOTE* this is not a guarantee that it will work

Let me know if you want more details on the cards and
where you can buy them. Oh and I bought them both
online, never did find one at a store here in phoenix
that had one that worked.
