-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I will be buying a new PDA in a few weeks. My Handspring Visor Edge still works fine and is the 4th in a line of Palm based products back to the original Palm Pilot 1000 (loved that thing). Palm products have served me well. It's just that I want more out of a PDA now. I'd like to get one with Linux on it. My options for such a product seem somewhat restricted: - - Sharp Zaurus SL-5x00 and SL-6000 models look nice and I have drooled over them for a while now. However: - -- Sharp has discontinued the SL-6000 and sales of the 5x00 models as well. - -- I have heard some bad stories about Sharp support. - - iPAQ is a possibility and I have put Linux on some older models before. - -- I'd rather buy one with Linux on it to start instead of paying for a different OS. I know of no others that are readily available and either have Linux pre-installed or can have it installed on them. Of course, the Palm envronment has worked well for me for the most part. I could just get a new Palm based unit. What I am exploring here are the possibilities and recommendations for a Linux PDA. What do you all recommend as a PDA with Linux? Alan PS. Some refernece sites: - - http://handhelds.org - all things about Linux on the iPAQ - - http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT8728350077.html - list of PDAs that use or can use Linux. There are a lot of them there but if you eliminate the industrial ones, there are not very many that are still pruchasable products. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFB8tBC0VxxIfjPXe4RAsjLAJ94tWo+WeKtgNizmLJkhOr4g5F13ACdG6rq 5gnTPHgrp5OvG/oZgiCHcIU= =GaIR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
