moin, moin, for new 'installs' in the past I've sometimes just copied old systems, changed the hostname and started using the new drive. Works great until recently. Now I'm running into a problem with udev. The new drive ends up with nothing in /dev/, which causes lots of problems. udev, if I understand this correctly, remounts /dev as /.dev, then mount a tmpfs partition over /dev and then creates devs as needed. When I'm copying the fs over what should I copy into /dev? Should I copy /dev? That isn't working correctly. Should I copy /.dev? Do I need to copy something to /.dev on the new drive? This, of course, is on a debian box :). It's tracking testing/sarge. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.AZOTO.org/ # Strangers are friends just waiting to happen! --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
