Anyways, try this:
k menu -> applications -> file associations -> ?????
kmenu -> applications -> componet chooser -> ?????


I don't run simplymepis but rather it's predecessor. Ummmm. I looked for the 
browser chooser (konqueror/mozilla) (which is what you are concerned wabout) 
but couldn't find it. So someone else should chime in here I think.
