I ran my DSL connection through a 100MHz 486 with 32MB RAM, 120MB hard drive and ISA 10MB network cards. Worked great for 2+ years. I gave it away as a door prize at a Devel meeting some months ago when I upgraded to 400MHz P2. For just filtering packets and doing NAT for the internal network, low power is plenty of power.
