Hey EC:  On behalf of all n00bies, let me ask:  where's the list?  If
I had a list, I would use it and vote with my dollars!

I tried to get a wireless NIC working under Mepis once.  I scoured the
net looking for advice, then bought a card that "should" have worked. 
I found that Mfgr. and Model# alone *aren't enough* -- some cards use
chipset A, and others (same model number!) use chipset B.  (and all
the implications for drivers that flow from that).  Discouraging.

Instead of whining (as I used to do) I just ran a cat5 able across the
dining room floor.  Now my wife whines.

If there are useful compatibility lists, please share!
