See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer.  Wikipedia has become
one of my first go-to points when I need basic concepts and keywords. 
 Sometimes you have to search on something like "bittorrent" a while
before you realize "aha -- 'peer-to-peer' is the phrase I should be
using."  Back in the day, I had to hit the library and read a long
time to learn that.
