I really, really doubt that a monitor can produce enough of a field to
trip a switch, even if you put the switch right next to the tube!

That is not to say that the monitor is not the source of your problem.
I would more suspect that the monitor is sending causing voltage level
or power problems either in the A/C (assuming the computer us plugged in
to the same circuit) or down the video signal connection (assuming this
monitor is connected to the computer that is rebooting.)

Toss the monitor.  Fast.  If it is causing the computer to reboot, it is
not doing good stuff to the computer components.  And bad monitors are
the most common computer equipment to start fires.

I don't have a cohesive answer for this.  I'll be watching for the
