I got tired of my Xandros distro and decided to go to Kubuntu. Evidently the distro of Kubuntu I got was broken. Downloaded Fedora Core 6 and during the install, I hosed my WinXP and couldn't get FC-6 to boot. Reloaded WinXP on hda and reinstalled my files (fortunately from up-to-date backups.) Then I re-downloaded Fedora Core 6, verified the iso's with SHA1SUM, and burned the 5 cd's, verifying the burned cd carefully with the iso file. Then I installed FC-6 on my hdb. The process took nearly 30 minutes, and the last thing the installer told me, prior to telling me to remove the media from the CD tray, was that it had installed a boot loader. (Didn't specify LILO or GRUB.) When I rebooted, WinXP came up. No boot loader options. Hours of careful work, but no payoff. How do I re-write GRUB? Or LILO?
