Hey Betty. Just to be clear you are saying that you can't burn cds and not that your drive is not recognizing any media placed in it? I have never heard of serpentine before as I have always used Gnomebaker or K3B. If complete dvds need to be copied from dvd/dvd I would recommend K9Copy instead. Are you using CDR's or CDRW's. My experience with CDRW's has been abysmal at best. When burning make sure you burn at slow speeds, 2-4X is good or the lowest setting your burner will run.
