I have never done it. But i would suggest Centos based on the following link from oracle http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley_10gdb_install.html unless he has any of the paid stuff that oracle "lists" and http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnCentos4UsingVMware.php adds some handy info, but it is set up to install on Centos4 in a VM, skip the VM and you should be fine.
