Apple ceased to be an We obviously know different people :). Most of the people I know using macs seem to fall into one of two groups: non-geeks who like what they consider to be a sexy, usable interface that just works or geeks who like what they consider to be a sexy, usable interface. Ah, so we agree that apple isn't all that innovative :). > The issue is about free software and running free software on a non-free > OS seems to be counterproductive - i.e. DRM enabled content doesn't run > on Vista OS and no amount of OpenOffice.org or Mozilla stuff is gonna > change that. True that m$ and apple will still have DRM lockdown, but by getting everyone to use Open Standards compliant software they can use whatever they want and I can use whatever I want. Also, getting people used to the apps and getting them to understand it's really the apps they care about helps get them to see the value of moving to a stable, reliable operating system such as GNU/Linux. Having eye-candy toys for them to play with doesn't hurt, provided they're also stable and reliable. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.CiscoLearning.org/ # "I interviewed Jonathan Winters once in the late '80s, it was as if he were # narrating a hallucination that I didn't see." -- Terry Gross, 03Aug2006
