Not having used wubi, I can't comment other than that I've never had a problem managing or fixing the boot sector. ya'll probably know the linux tools for fixing a boot sector better than I do. To fix a windows boot sector just boot from the windows cd, drop to a command prompt and run "fixmbr" I've rarely had to do that myself, and I've been around the block as far as dual booting and moving partitions around. Actually now that I think of it, it might have been an earlier ubuntu distro that messed up my boot sector and I couldn't fix it with fixmbr. However, I was able to fix it with the Fedora installer. That was the worst scenario that I've experienced and it was fine other than the short lived panic. -j On Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 10:43 AM, Joshua Zeidner wrote: > Lisa, I think Dan and Judd are describing a situation where they > *don't* use Wubi. > > to my knowledge, Wubi does not repartition the drive. > > -jmz > > On Mon, Nov 3, 2008 at 10:37 AM, Lisa Kachold > wrote: > > Yes, > > > > There are quite a few similar experiences with Wubi failures on the > Ubuntu > > forums. > > > > http://wapedia.mobi/en/Obnosis | > > http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Citations:obnosis | Obnosis.com > (503)754-4452 > > ________________________________ > > ________________________________ > > Date: Mon, 3 Nov 2008 00:19:47 -0700 > > From: pickell@gmail.com > > To: plug-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us > > Subject: Re: Wubi > > > > For some reason it wouldn't repartition the drive on a Dell E1505 laptop. > I > > used Acronis Disk Director and resized it manually.
