Thanks EC, I knew I couldn't use Knoppix and why but maybe
with what little I've learned from it so far I can understand the course and
Fedora better. I have an offer from someone fairly close to (from PLUG) to get
copies from. I would love top go to one of these installs or any other kind of
learning experience, but right now I'm also dealing with a very sick husband and
it's hard to get away for that long.

Here is the homepage for the list and click
on
meetings, then scroll down to this saturday's
(24th)
installfest.
I suggest your 'answer' would be to go and have
help
installing there.
BACKUP ANY IMPORTANT INFO to cdroms or other
places
beside the hard drive before tinkering with the hd.

The
instructors of any class always want people to be
'on the same page'
bookwise/os-wise. That is why they
want you to use fedora (it is probably
'his' favorite
flavor and he really doesn't know the others well
enough
to teach them correctly), which is downloadable
from the
internet.
Besides, debian based Knoppix uses 'different' flavors
of
packages with different procedures and names for
the packages (in many
instances) than red hat based
Fedora does. They both will do the job, but
trying to
figure out which 'Name' to use to do the job could end
up
being harder than the class isself!!! That is it in
a
nutshell.
Cyclists should expect and demand safe
accommodation on
our public roads,
just as does every other user.
Nothing
more is expected.
Nothing less is acceptable!
Long live
Knoppix!!
