I would rather use .htaccess, so the next
question is any lead on where to hunt down the CGI and interface?

Subject: Re: I want to set up an
upload site - HTTPS upload site
Jeez, I am full of answers today ;)
I have done this with Apache & SSL before, and have used regular old
.htaccess files for auth, and PHP session based authentication.
For the .htaccess setup, I used a free script(cgi) to have people upload files
to the system.
For the php setup, I integrated the session based auth with another free upload
script(php). The CGI was able to handle larger files without fuss, as this was
with php4, and you have to change max file size, etc, in php.ini.
Hope this helps.
