Or use OpenBase instead. It is getting
just as good as Access for small stuff like this. OpenBase is part of OO and
can be downloaded for use on windows or linux.

Not very specific. This may be a database solution. If he is
technical at all he could roll his own using M$-Access. Or my
favorite is FoxPro. You might be able to hire a FoxPro developer for
$65.00/hr to create what he needs. A small project would be probably $1500
- $2500.
You can use a spreadsheet however they are not good at large data sets.
However they are good at analysis and what ifs.
