THANKS for your help.
Weird. @ is something I'd expect to see on a username to designate operator privileges. I've checked out the webchat.freenode.net and it's working OK as far as I can tell...
I've attached a screenshot of what my screen looks like before I hit "Connect" and it's connected me successfully using the webchat client.
What browser are you using? On Sun, Jul 26, 2009 at 8:34 PM, Mike Schwartz <schwartz@acm.org> wrote:OK,so it sounds like the mibbit client is still too dumb,to detect (and tell me) the fact that it is blocked... Hmm...I didn't have this problemthe previous time, Itried to participate in one of these #ABLEconf sessions...and, even that, does not explain why my session at webchat.freenode.net , isnot able to see anything, that anyone else is saying.I did notice that it is displaying my CHANNEL ID as#@ABLEconfbut I do not know where that "@" came from ...(not from me!)(at least, not intentionally!)On Sun, Jul 26, 2009 at 8:27 PM, David Munson <david.munson@gmail.com> wrote:
As far as I know, freenode has blocked the mibbit client, or at least that was the case in June.
MikeSchwartz should work fine as a nickname, I'd suggest trying to avoid underscores and other non-alphanumeric characters. And either "ableconf" or "#ableconf" should work for the webchat.freenode.net client.

#ableconf suggests this client as well, it's DHTML and I just checked it out... better use of screen space IMO
