This is
not exactly about linux, I'm looking for opinions
on vertical keyboard options. (My wrist is sore these days and I
want to avoid carpal tunnel). I have looked at these 3
online:
I can vouch for the Goldtouch. I've had one at work for several years,
and just picked up one for home off e-bay. I use a keyboard/mouse tray
that is just above my lap. I've combined the Goldtouch with an
Evoluent vertical mouse, and haven't had the aching wrist since I
switched. Works fine with Ubuntu and SLED.
Cons to the Goldtouch keyboard:
The keyboard layout is
non-traditional, with no keypad, so I have a separate USB keypad. When
I first got the Goldtouch, I would hit the num-lock key a lot since it
is right next to L-Shift. The num-lock activates the numbers within
the keyboard (jkl) and you start typing all sorts of crazy.
Cons to Evoluent vertical mouse:
Doesn't seem big enough (I have pretty large paws), so its a little awkward to right-click.
I've gotten used to both of them, and they work well for me (YMMV).
